And the band played on...

The sale of pills are at an all time high
Young folks walk around with
Their heads in the sky
Cities aflame in the summer time
And, the beat goes on

And Norman Whitfield wrote this over 40 years ago.  I despair.  Well actually, I don't, because even if one has no belief, that is the wrong emotion to espouse.

Look what is happening in the 'projects' in Sweden.  I can point you to so much brilliant music from the US of I which shows how bad the New Rome was and is.  And I am talking since the so-called emancipation.  James Lee Burke, who is a fantastic writer, calls their civil strife the 'War Between The States'.  Why dress it up?  The country has gone to Hell in a handcart, and in doing so is reducing the rest of the World to a similar state.

And the band played on....refrain by, I think, Kendricks. Who later sang Keep On Truckin', which was used by a hairy cornflake in the 1970s as its jingle.  Wonder whatever happened to him?

Brief but angry.  I commend you to 'Across 110th Street', by Bobby Womack; or Marlena Shaw and 'Woman of the Ghetto'. Which latter was sampled by BlueBoy sometime in the 90's and is superb in its own little way. And for those who like their Northern (and let's face it, why don't you?), Marlena's 'Wade in the Water' is cool.  As is her version of 'California Soul'.  I'd have her babies if I could.....

Back to the top, it's a Ball of Confusion.  !Que se duerma usted!
