No work, no vonga. No mort, no wonder.
No hope and no illusions. Need to find a song that realises these emotions.
Quite poetic, so far. In terms of cadence and rhythm.
Probably for song, something in the oeuvre of Curtis Mayfield. Top, top singer, composer and producer, who I discussed with me Roots correspondent last night.
As a brat I was 9 when I had read every single book in the school library. Slow learner, I suppose.
The Head put me in charge of teaching the gypsies to read. Some were true-blood, some were travellers. I lived in an agricultural village where piece-work attracted the travellers at certain times of the year. Hence, I know some of the Romani. I have used some of it previously. And people think I am a racist.
'Vonga' is money, hence Wonga dot bleeding com. 'Mort' is wife, but it also means 'bird'. Still have neither of the aformentioned items.
The gypsies did not need hope - they carried it in their hearts. And they never bloody learned to read!
I am from a different background, and frankly, what is the point of all my information?
God Be With You.
